What if a simple walk along Plaza Saint-Hubert could transport you back to the 1920s through the 1940s?
That is exactly what the project Le patrimoine commercial en fiction offers, an original cultural experience that brings the history of our commercial streets back to life.
Unlike a traditional audio guide, this audio tour immerses participants in a true historical fiction. Through the adventures of Lionel and Joséphine, you’ll experience the atmosphere of Plaza Saint-Hubert in the past, with evocative sounds: music from the era, period traffic, and everyday life noises.
The concept is simple: just scan the QR codes placed on the archival photos displayed in shop windows… or listen directly to the tracks on SoundCloud (links available below 👇).
The tour is free and open to everyone, both Montrealers and visitors. Set up for a duration of two years, this original creation invites everyone to explore the commercial and human history of our neighborhoods in a new way.

This project is an initiative of the Rosemont–Petite-Patrie Historical Society, carried out in collaboration with Audiotopie (sound design), the Plaza Saint-Hubert BIA, the Promenade Masson BIA, as well as local merchants who lend their shop windows to this cultural experience.
A call for memories has been launched: citizens are invited to share their recollections of the shops of the past. In addition, a contest will be held in 2026, with a subscription to the Historical Society as a prize. More information will be available soon on the Rosemont–Petite-Patrie Historical Society website.
