For 15 years, Lynsey Billing has been energizing Plaza Saint-Hubert with Scream Dance, the dance academy she founded in 2011. Having danced since the age of four, she has seen her passion evolve into a true vocation over the years. Today, she dedicates herself to creating, teaching, and—above all—giving her students the confidence to express themselves through movement.

Dancing Freely
Inclusion, encouragement, and respect lie at the heart of the Scream Dance approach. In this space, dance becomes far more than just a physical activity; it fosters self-confidence, relieves stress, and—as Lynsey puts it—allows people to “express through movement what they cannot express in words.”
This philosophy is embodied in "Diva Style," a dance style created by Lynsey in 2014. Through the use of heels, makeup, costumes, and attitude, participants are invited to explore a new side of themselves and give themselves permission to be whoever they want to be. The instructor aims to provide a space where everyone can let loose—regardless of age or skill level—because she believes that dance is not reserved solely for those who fit the typical dancer profile.

A story deeply intertwined with the Plaza
In 2011, Lynsey chose to set up her own studio on Plaza Saint-Hubert. Since then, Scream Dance and the Plaza have grown together.
Her bond with the area deepened significantly in 2015, when her studio was completely destroyed by fire. Just as she had lost everything, many people rallied to help her. Students launched a crowdfunding campaign, caring individuals offered both moral and practical support, and a neighbor on the Plaza lent temporary space so that classes could continue.
A few weeks later, Scream Dance reopened in a new location on the Plaza. This experience left a lasting impression on Lynsey and strengthened her sense of belonging to the area. For her, the Plaza represents, above all, a community—a place where everyone supports and encourages one another.

Growing the Community
Over the years, Scream Dance has become much more than just a dance school. It is a gathering place where children, teenagers, and adults come together, united by the joy of dance. For Lynsey, one of the most rewarding aspects of her work is watching her students grow and gain confidence.
After 15 years on the Plaza, the area’s diversity remains a major draw for her. A mix of businesses, cultures, and communities coexist there, creating a vibrant, inclusive, and constantly surprising environment. Much like Scream Dance, Plaza Saint-Hubert is a place where everyone can find their own space.
